Applications being taken for Miss S.C. Sweet Potato Fest and teen pageants

DARLINGTON – The Miss S.C. Sweet Potato Festival and Miss S.C. Sweet Potato Festival teen pageants, which now are official Miss South Carolina and Miss South Carolina Teen preliminaries, are now accepting applications for their pageants. Miss contestants must have lived in South Carolina for six months or attend college full time and be between the ages of 17 (rising high school senior) to 24. 

Miss contestants must not turn 25 years old by Dec. 31, 2016. Teen contestants must be 13-17 (rising high school junior) and live and attend school in South Carolina. The pageant will be held at St. John’s Elementary School Auditorium on Sept. 20 at 4 p.m. and will feature the reigning Miss S.C. Sweet Potato Festival Caitlan Walzer, Miss S.C. Sweet Potato Festival Teen Payton Lang, Mrs. South Carolina 2008 Kim Sullivan, X-Factor star Stone Martin and the Mayo High School for Math, Science and Technology’s Phoenix Phame show choir.
