The Florence Rotary Club recognized Reamer King as the 2015 Four Way Test recipient at its June 29 meeting. King has been a Rotarian for 47 years and is a five-time Paul Harris Fellow. King also was recognized earlier this year by the Florence Chamber as the 2015 Business Person of the Year. He has received an honorary doctorate degree from FMU, and was recognized by Time Magazine as Dealer of the Year.

An FMU scholarship bears his name, and he assisted in formation of Advanced Automotive Technology Center at FDTC. He served as director of SC Auto Dealers Association board and served on numerous General Motors boards. He has also served on numerous boards at Central United Methodist Church and supports local and abroad missions. Reamer King is never too busy to lend a hand.

At its June 22 meeting, the Florence Rotary Club presented Randy Cole, CEO of Circle Park Behavioral Health Services, with the 2015 Rotarian of the Year Award. Ashley Christenbury, Sales and Business Development Officer at SAFE Federal Credit Union, received the 2015 Young Professional Rotarian of the Year Award. The Rotarians contribute throughout the year to an annual grant program and the club provides $10,000 in funding for worthy causes.

The Rotary Board awarded $2,000 grants to five local organizations to use for programs in the community. Cecilia Meggs accepted on behalf of Lighthouse Ministries for a program they have for training and supporting working mothers. Jeannie James accepted on behalf of Circle Park for a three-month program for substance dependent women.

Deana Strickland accepted on behalf of Camp Rae for their four-week summer program for non-mobile and multi-handicapped camp at Calvary Baptist Church. Shonette Dargan accepted for Pee Dee Coalition Against Domestic & Sexual Assault to support the women in their programs. Dr. Ben Dillard accepted on behalf of Florence Darlington Tech’s week long Science Camp for rising 7th and 8thgraders.
