History program looks at potato chips
TIMMONSVILLE – During Black History Month the Baker Memorial Library will host “Bet You Can’t Eat Just One!,” a celebration of the innovation and accomplishments of African-Americans. Sources credit African-American chef George Crum with creating the potato chip in Saratoga, NY, in the mid-1800s. The program will remember that legacy by talking about Crum and how potato chips are made today. Attendees will have the opportunity to taste-test and rate potato chips.
The event will be from 5:45-6:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 20. This free event is open to children from preschool to 6th grade and their guardians. For more information, call the library at 843-346-2941.
