Residents can get help with health insurance
If you’re interested in signing up for health coverage on the Health Insurance Marketplace – but you find the information overwhelming or confusing – Carolinas Hospital System is ready to help. The hospital will have certified assisters on-site at the hospital to share information, answer questions, and to schedule free appointments for application assistance or help individuals begin the enrollment process. This service is available at the hospital Monday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, 8 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
Open enrollment runs Nov. 1–Dec. 15. This marks the federal government’s fifth annual campaign to extend healthcare coverage to more Americans, specifically to those who otherwise wouldn’t have access to services or who would face a financial crisis due to medical bills.
“We have helped hundreds of individuals enroll on the Marketplace since it first launched four years ago,” said Gary Malaer, CEO. “It’s very gratifying to help individuals enroll knowing they will be able to access healthcare when they need it. It’s a relief for so many people.”
Carolinas Hospital System is also offering free one-on-one assistance throughout the open enrollment period at the hospital.
Residents can schedule appointments by calling 843-674-4564 in Florence. These services will also be provided at Carolinas Hospital System – Marion. For more information on the services in Marion, call 843-431-2519. Certified assisters will help with plan comparisons, determining any tax credits or discounts, and filling out applications.
